Can You Live in Kaunas Speaking Only English?

You can live in Kaunas with English, but you should not plan as if English works everywhere. Separate emergency access from routine care. For an immediate threat to life, health, safety, or property, call 112. Lithuania’s Emergency Response Centre states that call takers can accept requests in Lithuanian, Russian, Polish, and English. Give the exact address first, explain what happened, and answer the call taker’s questions.

For a GP, dentist, therapist, or specialist, ask a precise question before booking: “Can this consultation and all follow-up instructions be provided in English?” A clinic having an English website does not prove that every receptionist and clinician on every shift works in English.

• Write down active medicines, doses, allergies, diagnoses, and the main symptom.
• Prepare dates and measurements rather than relying on improvised descriptions.
